What is brain mapping?
Of the many wonderful and interesting aspects of neurofeedback, the brain map is perhaps the most insightful.
A brain map can visually show you the battle waging in your head between negativity and positivity. It can help identify past trauma, your unique “fight” or “flight” response, and, among many other things, your cognitive strengths and weaknesses.
Leading-edge technology
Quantitative Electroencephalography, or QEEG, is the most technologically advanced method for mapping the brain’s electrical activity. It analyzes your brainwaves at 19 different locations on the scalp and identifies which areas of the brain are performing optimally and which areas could use improvement.
This information gives me important insight into your unique personality, your mental health issues, and exactly how and where to train your brain to achieve quick and significant change.
What should you expect?
The brain mapping session takes about two hours, so dress comfortably. In that time, we will visit for a few moments to talk about the process, record your brain activity using a brain cap, and review the results.
Many people find this part of the process very interesting, and I encourage questions as we review your unique brain patterns.
To ensure the most accurate brain map, here are some things to consider:
- Mapping a brain after a large meal or when one is drowsy can skew brainwave and therefore the brain map results.
- A clean scalp will help ensure quality measurements.
- Refrain from taking stimulants the day of our appointment.
- While medications have an effect on the brain map and can skew the results, it is important that you continue to take any and all medications that are prescribed by your physician for daily use or any “per needed” medications that help you feel comfortable in a new setting.
- Since the brain mapping session will most likely be your first time coming into my office, feel free to bring a trusted person along. Your comfort and safety are important for a quality brain map.
- Please know that I welcome your questions regarding preparing for the brain mapping process, so don’t hesitate to call.
Let’s discuss how brain mapping could help you.
Wouldn’t it be great to feel better without medication?
