Ask About Our Seasonal Special

About

I’m honored you’re here.

Your effort and courage to reach out and work toward self-improvement are to be respected.

I am interested in your story. With a little humor and genuine attention, you will find the environment in my office is to be safe and comfortable.

Insight is the key!

Seeing a therapist is about helping you gain greater insight into yourself: how you deal with stress and trauma, and its implications on your relationships, career, motivation, success, etc.

My approach is warm, yet lighthearted. Together we will identify the patterns that lead to unhelpful thinking and give you an enlightened perspective that will transform the way you view your past, your present, and your prospects for the future.

About Me

It’s not easy to open up in therapy, so I’ll go first:

I love to learn and figure out how things work. In fact, understanding how people and the brain work is what originally drew me to counseling.

This interest of figuring out how things work also applies to just about everything else in the world. When I’m not in a session, I’m usually at home tinkering or working on some kind of project that requires multiple trips to the hardware store.

I like to tell Dad jokes. My young daughter thinks I’m funny – but I think I’m really funny.

Some people say I’m equal parts geek and guy’s guy – I like video games, movies, and comic books just as much as I like sports.

I’m more like you than you might expect. I’ve been on my own journey of self-discovery that has taught me that healing comes from addressing the source of trauma and pain. As a result, I view people as powerful beings and enjoy the process of helping them find that power.

I love adventure! I’ve taught English in both China and Russia, backpacked through Europe, and am always up for a road trip.

My Training

My higher education degrees are as follows: Bachelors in Marriage, Family, and Human Development from Brigham Young University and Master’s from Argosy University in Mental Health Counseling.

I have received training from some of the brightest minds in the neurofeedback industry. My early training from Brain State Technologies focused on understanding and treating trauma-related brain patterns. Later, I studied under Peter Van Deusen’s “The Learning Curve” method and Dr. Richard Seutar’s Newmind QEEG method.

My therapy approach uses Dynamic Theory to combine various forms of trauma theory, insight therapy, as well as Cognitive Behavioral therapies.
